Filming Reflection

 Filming Reflection

My role in this production process was to film and direct as Kole was in charge of acting and figuring out costumes and props. To make filming easier and smoother, I used a camera holder called Gimbal. This allowed me to keep the camera steady as I was tracking the character throughout the scenes. We had to film our movie in different parts in order to make it flow.

We started in the day time around 4:30. We started in the house by filming Chad walking out of his room ready for school, him grabbing his breakfast walking out the door, him getting in his truck for school, the girl watching him through the bushes, and him checking his notifications on his phone. After this, we drove to Suncoast to shoot the other clips. As we were driving, I filmed the POV of the girl following Chad as he was driving through the neighborhood and as her was pulling into the school parking lot. The last clip we had to film for this part was the POV of the girl watching Chad walk into school through her car window.

The next part we did was around 6:30 which was around sunset time. This part didn't take as long because we only had to film Chad as he walked to his truck after baseball and the POV of the girl watching him walk to his truck. We did this at sunset to indicate that he had gone through a whole day of school and baseball, and how it's going to be dark by the time he gets home. Once we finished filming, we had to go to chipotle to get a prop for the last parts of the filming.

Lastly, we did the rest of the filming at home once it was dark. We started around 8:45pm and ended around 10:00pm. We had to film from when Chad walked into the house after baseball to the part where the girl was standing at the front door with the knife. In this section, there was one more little character used to resemble the dad as he talks on the ring doorbell.

In the end, this filming process was very tedious and time-consuming. Learning the camera holder technology, fixing lighting, changing costumes, gathering props, and creating camera angles and movement, were all put together to create the clips that we filmed. We plan on editing throughout the next couple weeks to create the final product of the film.
