Characters

 Characters

Chad:

Chad is a popular, athletic high school boy. He is 17 years old and is apart of the varsity baseball team at his school. In most of the film he is wearing baseball clothes. The film simulates his day as a baseball player from the moments he gets home one night, the the moment he gets home the next night. He has a very bubbly, nice personality, but with the influence of other people he gets influenced. Within the film, this occurs within the span of 24 hours.

Beatrice:

Beatrice is a 16 year-old new girl at school who is not considered the typical "pretty girl" at school. She is a little heavier and doesn't have the popular style that most high school girls have. She is only shown in the film through the post on social media and at the end when she is holding a knife at the front door. Her personality isn't really sown because of this.

Roles

 Roles

Script: Mikala Moon

This part of the planning is important because it gives the whole idea of the film. It sets the characters, dialogue, certain camera clips and cuts, and other things. It is the written outline of the whole film and also a guide for doing the rest of the planning.

Storyboard: Kole Ayrault

Kole will do this assignment to outline my whole filming process. this will allow me to see what angles to film from, where the different clips are gonna be filmed, and when they are gonna align together. Rather than the script being a written outline, this gives the visual outline of the film.

Acting: Kole Ayrault

This job is very important for Kole to do. With this comes many responsibilities that help shape the film. He will need to make sure he can present the emotions that the character is feeling and making the audience engaged.

Costumes: Kole Ayrault

Kole will make sure that the main character, Chad, has all of the costumes he needs. The main one will be a baseball uniform and the secondary one will be a plain outfit for school that shows his personality. It will be an athletic and trendy outfits to stereotype to the audience that he is a popular athlete.

Filming: Mikala Moon

This job will be done on the day of filming. I will make sure to get all the right cuts, angles, and lighting. I will also direct to make sure that when we are filming we are being efficient with the time that we have.

Editing: Mikala Moon

I will be doing this in class and at home. I will be using adobe premier for this process on my personal computer. This will mainly be my job, but Kole will help with music selections and advice for certain transitions and sounds.

Scripts

 Scripts

We started thinking deeper into our second idea and created a rough draft of part of a script:

As we kept adding to this script we thought farther into making it more complicated to help at the suspense of thriller. We built off of the idea of ending in a murder and tried to think of a purpose behind the murder. We came up with cyberbullying for the social issue and began to build off the same kind of script but molding it into a different story.

We used all of the ideas together plus some others to form our final script. The social issue of it is cyberbullying and is planned to be filmed mainly at my house.

Opening Scene Analysis

 Now You See Me

Camera Work:

Close-ups/over-the-shoulder close-ups: these shots help direct attention and focus on a specific character. It draws attention to way they are saying, what they look like, and what their emotions are.

Focus: the focus changes between the cards and the boy character to make sure the audience is paying attention to the right thing at the right time.

Establishing shot: this shot follows after the close-ups of the characters. The camera is moving throughout the city and shows the dark night with bright lights, helping indicate where the movie is taking place.

Aerial view: the camera shows above all the characters celebrating in the city and slowly zooms into a specific character who seems less excited than all the others. It also highlighted the fact that he was not by anyone else whereas the other people were very close together.

Focus pulls: the camera is continuously moving with characters and zooming into specific things to help draw attention.

Close-up eye shots: the camera is zoomed into just the eyes of characters to help emphasize the emotions. It also symbolizes that there are lots of thoughts behind their eyes, which could be evil or innocent.

After all the quick shots and close-ups of each character, the location of the movie has changed. It shows an establishing shot of the water. This now indicates that it is daytime and is in a location on the water. The camera continues to not stay steady and continuously move with the characters. This helps create the crazy and overwhelming feeling for the audience. It helps indicate the future of suspense and issues that are coming later on in the film.

Editing:

All the editing just consists of straight shots. If the transitions are dragged on, then the suspense of the film may not be as high for the audience. It helps continue the film and keep it flowing as quickly as the shots are taken.

Mise-en-scene:

Lighting: natural lighting

Makeup: no specific paleness in the skin; regular day look

Wardrobe: some characters are wearing more professional office clothes while the others are wearing darker, more casual clothes

Setting: a city on the water

Props: a deck of cards

This film follows along the thriller subgenre of having revenge. In our final film we are planning on creating a film that involves an action with the main plot being about revenge.
